Hello Ford Sayre Friends!

My name is Patrick Caldwell. I am a cross country skier from Lyme, NH. I grew up skiing with Ford Sayre and racing with the Ford Sayre Junior Nordic Team. Now, after two years of competing on the Dartmouth Ski Team, I am pursuing training and racing full time as a member of the US Ski Team and Stratton Mountain School T2 Elite Team – SMST2. To this day Oak Hill continues to be one of my favorite ski venues in the US, and I am looking forward to seeing many of you out on the trails soon!

Cross country skiing is an endurance sport demanding long term commitment and focus. Elite skiers are required to train year-round and log over 1,000 hours of training per year to prepare for the long competition season running from November through March. Dry-land exercises form the bulk of the training load in the spring, summer, and early fall. Daily training, racing, and outreach make up the weeks, months and years of a Nordic skier’s journey. The sport also requires extensive travel around the world, training at sport-specific facilities, competing across North America and Eurasia, and attending community outreach events across the US.

Skiing is not only what I love to do, but is something I do with the people I love. As soon as I could walk I was strapped in to a pair of skis sharing the experience with my family and friends. Since then I have embraced skiing as a lifestyle and now as a full time pursuit geared towards my goals of representing the USA at the Olympics, World Championships and World Cup.

As a member of the US Ski Team I am provided with opportunities to compete and train at the highest level. However, I am responsible for paying for the expenses of training, travel, housing, etc. I am seeking financial support to help cover these expenses as I work toward my goals. Please consider supporting my efforts and being part of my journey.

Several Ford Sayre families have generously agreed to support me this year with a matching grant that will double the value of any contribution you make.
