Starting right off-It was a hard, super fun weekend and I am looking forward to doing it again next year. Now, back to the beginning. Team New Hampshire got to take a Coach bus to the Rikert Nordic Center, which was great because I got to catch up with friends and we did this “speed dating” thing which allowed me to meet some new people. Once we got to the venue we had to wait around for what felt like forever before our 5K skate race. Finally the time came for us to race, and I did pretty well. I got 35 or 36 overall and placed 6th for the team (I was ranked 9th on the team from the qualifiers). Once all of the skiing was done for that day, we packed up and headed for the hotel. We had a yummy dinner and a Yankee Swap, which was pretty fun, there were lots of goodies! Finally, after hanging out with some friends for a while, we got to bed, and prepared for the next day which would hold a 5K classic and a 1.3-.5K skate sprint.

I did pretty well in the classic, placing 34 overall and 8th for the team and I was super proud of my friend Sarah Nadeau for winning the race by over a minute! Once the sprint came we were all pretty tired…and cold. It was supposed to be really warm! My skate sprint was probably my best race of the weekend. I was last out of the start, as I have been all weekend, and first to the finish for my heat! I kick really late and didn’t catch some people until the top of the first hill, but by then I was on a role. I caught the Vermont girl at the top of the last hill, and took it home from there. I placed 27th overall and 4th for the team.

Sunday finally came with everyone sore and tired…especially with daylight savings-not fun. Anyways we were all looking forward to the team relay. I was to be the third leg doing the girls 3K skate for team #4 for New Hampshire. It was a fun course that included my favorite hill. Once I finished and was walking back to our tent, I saw Erik go by on the final leg for one of the Vermont teams and I cheered for him really loud…some of my teammates thought I was a traitor:) Overall it was an amazing experience that was really fun and I am looking forward to doing many others like it!
