Today, the team went to Waterville for our skate portion of this weekend’s Eastern Cup. The J2 boys and girls skied 5k whilst the J1 men skied 10k. The course was a rough one; 2k solid uphill followed by a 1k downhill and finished with 2k of rolling flats. The extremely soft snow made for a hard race.
Chris: I raced so hard that when I finished, my sweat was so pungent, that as I write this, it has begun to pervade throughout the van. Although it doesn’t smell “good” it smells of hard work and effort.
Tucker: I had a good race. I stayed with a MWS skier (who was on his second lap) on my first lap and drafted him now the downhills. This gave my legs some extra juice for my second lap and I finished strong.
Sam: The snow was pretty soft and rutted, but my technique was light enough that I didn’t get bogged down. I felt strong and efficient. Overall I had a very good race.
Colin’s 2¢: [well, maybe tomorrow]
Ed. note: Adam won his second U16 EC skate race of the season!
